Design Review Process

The Design Review Process exists to maintain, protect, and enhance the value of your property, and it strives for a balance between individual rights and the good of the entire community. Whether you are a first-time homeowner or long-time resident, it is important to preserve the value of our residences and common areas, all share and enjoy.

Our association’s design review process is a big part of sustaining the community’s appearance and property values. The Desert Shores Community Association has adopted a set of design guidelines to assist homeowners in submitting completed Architectural Applications for consideration. While our design guidelines have some limitations, they allow enough flexibility for individual expression.

Any modifications to the exterior of a home (front or rear) are required to have prior approval by the Community Relations Committee.

  • Examples of such modifications are, but not limited to:
  • Painting the exterior walls or trim
  • Redesigning or installing landscaping
  • Constructing a fence
  • Adding a secondary structure (like a garden shed, dog house, swing set)
  • Installing solar panels
